Uttarakhand To Examine Holiday Destinations’ Load-Bearing Capacity

A study will be conducted by the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) to determine the state’s major towns’ ability to support a load. Officials said that 15 municipal areas, including the well-known vacation spots of Mussoorie, Nainital, and Lansdowne, had been selected for study in the project’s first phase, signaling a change in policy that campaigners and environmentalists have been calling for.

After the monsoon, a technical and scientific analysis of the towns would start. The chief minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, stated, “We need to treat the situation seriously. Experts would conduct the scientific and technical investigation, and on the basis of their recommendations, construction projects would be permitted in the towns, particularly in the hilly regions.

A town’s load-bearing capability, the amount of visitors the town can handle annually, and the number of tourists that arrive each year will all be studied, according to officials.
