The Greater Noida handicrafts show will feature a focus on environmentally friendly products starting on October 12.

The five-day event, often referred to as the IHGF autumn edition, will take place at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida until October 16. At a curtain-raiser ceremony on Tuesday, organizers of The Indian Handicrafts and Gifts Fair (IHGF) 2023 announced that the 56th edition, which will start on October 12, will focus on sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle goods.

The five-day event, often referred to as the IHGF autumn edition, will take place at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida until October 16. Over 2,000 products will be displayed in 16 categories by over 3,000 exhibitors from over 100 countries, including handicrafts, home decor, furniture, and housewares.

The B2B (business to business) fair will be accessible to international buyers, buying and sourcing experts, and significant local retail customers, said the event’s organizers. So far, more than 5,500 buyers have signed up for the event.

The Exports Promotion Council of Handicrafts, which is organizing the show, has begun holding awareness seminars for handicraft makers to tell them about the carbon footprint of each product they make and how to reduce it, according to Raj K. Malhotra, the council’s chairman.

“Our product offers at the exhibition continue to place sustainability at the center. “EPCH is urging both small and large-scale manufacturers to reduce their carbon footprint in order to concentrate on eco-friendly products,” he said.

He added that a variety of eco-friendly goods will be on display, including cane and bamboo home decor items, floor mats, bamboo flasks, cotton and jute lifestyle accessories, hand-painted artisanal clothing using natural colorants, waste cloth crafts, fashion accessories made from plant fibers, and ahimsa (non-violent) silk items.

“This time, there is renewed focus on sustainable and eco-friendly crafts created with materials and processes that are environment-friendly,” said Rakesh Kumar, director general of EPCH and chairman of India Exposition Mart Limited. We organized a panel discussion and product gallery on sustainable and recycled products to demonstrate our dedication to these ideals because more and more people are making a conscious effort to lower their carbon impact.

This year, a furniture-only show will debut in conjunction with the IHGF.

As more foreign markets provide more Indian home and lifestyle products, the breadth of the furniture sector is expanding. Manufacturers of furniture, woodcraft, and other related goods are exhibitors. They hail from all of the major manufacturing centers, including Delhi, Bhopal, Moradabad, Saharanpur, and Jaipur. In addition to significant industrial hubs and clusters, the goal is to create a single location where furniture types from around India can be found, according to Naresh Bothra, president of the fair welcoming committee.
