The 50 millionth rider on Metro lines 2A and 7

The MMMOCL has also enabled an additional entry/exit gate at Gundavali station on Line 7 for easier movement of passengers, especially during peak hours, with metro lines 2A and 7 exceeding the 50 million ridership mark.

Mumbai: Ridership on the two recently installed Mumbai metro lines 2A and 7 has surpassed 50 million. A astounding 5,05,22,330 passengers commuted on the Andheri West-Dahisar-Gundavali route from April 2, 2022 to September 24 of this year.

Additionally, thanks to the Mumbai One Card, more individuals are choosing to purchase tickets digitally. According to Maha Mumbai Metro Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) officials, 1,49,556 people—or around 40% of daily riders—have selected this way of payment.

“Mumbaikars are increasingly choosing the metro as their preferred mode of transportation, and witnessing a 5% growth every month is a significant achievement,” stated Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, CMD of MMMOCL & Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA. It is admirable that 40% of our customers choose the Mumbai One Card instead of paper-based QR tickets, eliminating the reliance on them. To further improve passenger convenience, we are constantly trying to introduce more ticketing choices.

Gundavali, Andheri West, Anand Nagar, Dahanukar Wadi, Dahisar East, Kandivali West, and Borivali West stations on the busy Mumbai Metro network have experienced high foot traffic.
