The auxiliary runway, Runway 14/32, of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), had a significant re-carpeting project. The CSMIA has successfully completed this significant infrastructure improvement on schedule thanks to careful planning, smooth execution, and a strong commitment to adhere to stringent timeframes and safe operations.
This is a development in maintaining the greatest levels of aviation safety while improving operational effectiveness.
With an average of 950 flights per day, CSMIA runs one of the busiest single-crossover runways in the world. In order to sustain continuous and secure aircraft operations during landing and takeoff, it is crucial that the runways are kept in top shape. The initiative to replace the carpet was launched on December 9, 2022, and it was completed on June 10, 2023, as expected.
In order to provide a smooth and effective project execution for its auxiliary runway 14/32, CSMIA used a painstakingly structured method. On average, roughly 200 people worked daily to give an efficient qualitative effort to obtain the most extraordinary outcome possible.
A thorough daily schedule with defined goals was painstakingly developed and meticulously tracked.
The runway was shut down for roughly 12 hours each day to ensure the project’s effectiveness and rapid advancement. The project team was able to complete its jobs with thorough execution throughout this unbroken time.
