Return of the direct flight between Amritsar and Kuala Lumpur

The airline launched the service with four weekly flights that connected Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, and Gold Coast in Australia with Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar through Kuala Lumpur.
The low-cost airline Air Asia X, located in Malaysia, has resumed direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Amritsar, which is good news for travellers traveling from Punjab to Australia, Kuala Lumpur, Thailand, and other Southeast Asian nations. Due to Covid, these flights were canceled in March 2020.

The airline launched the service with four weekly flights, conveniently linking through Kuala Lumpur between Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar and the Australian cities of Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, and Gold Coast.

The Punjabi population in Australia and other Southeast Asian nations will benefit from this because it will be cheaper and take much less time than traveling to Delhi. In a short amount of time, travelers will also be able to take advantage of Air Asia X flights via Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok, Indonesia, the Philippines, and other tourist locations.

Gurjit Singh Aujla, a member of parliament from Amritsar, went to the airport to greet the Malaysia-bound passengers and members of the Air Asia X crew. “We extend our congratulations to everyone on the flight’s restart after more than three years. While speaking with the media, Aujla expressed her hope that this flight will receive positive feedback from the public.

Members of the FlyAmritsar Initiative and Amritsar Vikas Manch, which were instrumental in the flights’ launch in August 2018, were in touch with Air Asia X’s senior management to request the restart of these services. According to Sameep Singh Gumtala, global convener of the FlyAmritsar Initiative, “this will not only make travel easier for the Punjabi community but will also greatly benefit the tourism industry of Amritsar.”

The flight will depart Kuala Lumpur in the morning on Sunday and Monday at 7.35 am and arrive in Amritsar at 11 am. It will then depart at 12.30 pm in the afternoon and arrive in Kuala Lumpur in the evening at 8.55 pm. The flight will leave Malaysia at 8.25 pm on Wednesday and Friday and arrive in Amritsar at 11.50 pm. On Thursday and Saturday, the flight will leave Malaysia at 1 am and arrive in Amritsar at 9.25 am.
