The Maha Metro has written to the PMC asking that any road-related construction on the proposed metro routes be coordinated with it in order to prevent duplication of effort.
PUNE: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) claims that despite asking Maha Metro for feedback on road-related projects like flyovers and grade separators in order to improve planning and coordination between the two agencies, Maha Metro officials’ delays have left the civic body irritated and frustrated.
The Maha Metro intends to extend metro line 1 from Swargate to Katraj and Swargate to Pul Gate after finishing construction on metro lines 1 (purple line) and 2 (aqua line). The Maha Metro has written to the PMC, requesting that it collaborate with it on any type of road-related activity on the suggested metro routes in order to prevent duplication of effort. However, the Maha Metro is reportedly taking its time responding to the PMC’s request for information on road-related projects including grade separators and flyovers.
Additional municipal commissioner Vikas Dhakane stated, “Normally, we discuss the development work that needs to be done on the metro routes. On the project, the PMC and Maha Metro collaborate and exchange information. Since they are both government organizations, it is best to cooperate closely and avoid miscommunication. We will solve any issues that arise at the lower level.
