The PIB has cleared the PCMC to Nigdi metro route, however the Swargate to Katraj metro route is still being reviewed. The anticipated cost of the Swargate to Katraj route is 3,663 crore, compared to 910 crore for the PCMC to Nigdi route. Other segments are anticipated to be finished by the end of the year by Maha-Metro.
The Public Investment Board (PIB) has given the go-ahead for the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Nigdi (elevated) metro line, but the Swargate to Katraj (underground) metro route is still being reviewed and would take longer to be approved. The PCMC to Nigdi elevated metro line is expected to cost 910 crore, while the Swargate to Katraj underground metro route is expected to cost 3,663 crore.
The Hindustan Times quoted Maha-Metro’s managing director, Shravan Hardikar, as saying, “Last week, we presented a presentation to the PIB on the PCMC to Nigdi expanded metro route. Now that minutes have been approved, the PIB will recommend them to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). After then, the MoHUA will send a notification. The process is nearing its conclusion.
Hardikar stated, “We have submitted a proposal to the MoHUA, which is reviewing it, regarding the Swargate to Katraj metro route. It will then be forwarded to the PIB. The idea will be presented to the union cabinet for final approval due to the increased estimated cost.
Maha-Metro anticipates finishing the Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi stretch in a few months. The stretch from Civil Court to Swargate is also nearing completion and is anticipated to be finished in December. Both extensions are anticipated to be completely operational by the end of the year, according to Hemant Sonawane, executive director of Maha-Metro.
