After the event, the jathedar demanded that the requirement to have an Indian passport for the pilgrimage be lifted and asked for the same access for Pakistani Sikhs to visit the revered gurdwara at Dera Baba Nanak, which is located in the Gurdaspur area.

Indian pilgrims can visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Guru Nanak’s ultimate resting place.

Since the trans-border connection was opened in 2019, the Sikh community has been pressing for this, according to the jathedar

Sarwan Singh Dhun of the AAP, Gurpartap Singh Wadala of the erstwhile Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Gurcharan Singh Grewal of the SGPC, and other Sikh activists were also there. The SGPC held a similar ardas at Akal Takht, the highest Sikh temporal seat, on August 16 for the second year in a row.
