DGCA Report: SpiceJet was India’s most delayed airline in May.

According to a DGCA assessment, only 61% of SpiceJet flights from India’s four busiest airports—Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad—departure on time in the month of May. This is a decrease from the 70% number that was stated in April. According to Bloomberg, SpiceJet runs roughly 250 flights every day.

The second-largest airline in India, Air India, dropped from second to fifth in punctuality, experiencing nearly twice as many flight delays in May as compared to April. Akasa Air was the most punctual throughout the entire situation. However, a decline in performance has been observed. 93% of Akasa Air’s flights left on time. In May, IndiGo, the largest airline in India, had 90% of its flights depart on schedule. With 89.5% of its flights departing on time, Vistara came in fourth, while only 85% of Air Asia’s flights were on time.

Here is a number to compare flight delays in nations like the US and the UK with those occurring in India, where flights are now experiencing delays. According to Bloomberg, who cited data gathered from FlightAware, between January and June 20, approximately 15% of airline departures in India had delays, compared to 30% of flights in the UK and 20% of flights in the US.
