Arunachal Pradesh’s “Tawang Marathon” on October 1 will promote adventure sports and tourism

According to officials, the “Tawang Marathon” would be jointly organized by the Indian Army and the Arunachal Pradesh government on October 1 in order to promote tourism in the area and put Tawang on the map for adventure sports and marathons.

The Army, Navy, Air Force, and all key CAPF troops from ITBP and SSB will field strong teams in the first-of-its-kind “Tawang Marathon,” according to Defense Spokesman Lt Col Mahendra Rawat. He added that this is in addition to the vast number of marathon fans from all across the country.

According to him, there will be marathon, half-marathon, 10 km, and 5 km races during the event.

Tawang will offer the participants a rare opportunity to take part in one of the few and maybe most difficult high-altitude runs in the nation. Tawang is located at an average elevation of 10,000 feet above mean sea level.

Pema Khandu, the chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh, is supporting the event and was the first to register for it, according to Lt Col Rawat.
