Aru Valley, a trekking haven, draws travelers.

Locals claim that over the past two years, Aru has seen an increase in tourism, prompting authorities to resurface the steep road leading from Pahalgam.
Local and foreign tourists are thronging the Aru Valley, which is framed by towering mountains and a rushing river that flows by the side, to take in its splendor. The Valley is a stopping point for the well-known Kolahoi glacier and is around 12 kilometers from Pahalgam.

The resort is a hikers’ paradise with breathtaking ice-fed streams, lakes, pine forests, mountain paths, and glaciers. Most trekkers visiting the area are from outside of the country. Additionally, there is a tent hotel for visitors on the outskirts of Aru for those who enjoy the outdoors.

While domestic tourists enjoy strolling across the verdant meadow, foreign tourists like to go horseback riding or trekking. Locals claim that over the past two years, Aru has seen an increase in tourists, which prompted the government to resurface the steep road leading from Pahalgam.

It’s a really lovely place. The only thing I can say is Kashmir is gorgeous, said Fedrik, a tourist from the United States, adding, “I would like to spend a full day here.”

While his wife Menu and daughter were busy shooting selfies, another foreigner, Mouin ul Haq, a freelance journalist in Bangladesh, was snapping pictures of the scenery with his DSLR camera. He claimed that despite traveling extensively throughout South Asia with his family, Kashmir’s natural beauty is unmistakably distinct.

“We traveled to Kashmir from Kolkotta, spent a few nights in Pahalgam, and then continued on to Srinagar and other tourist destinations. Our journey has been fantastic. I intend to visit this location once more,” stated Haq.

A young Karnataka couple who had just gotten married said they enjoyed Pahalgam and the areas nearby. “We’ve added another night to our stay here and would dearly love to return to this location.”
