India has overtaken Canada and Mexico as the second-largest international source market for visitor arrivals to the United States, according to the most recent statistics released by the country’s National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO) in May 2023, which recorded an impressive 199,364 Indian visitors during the month.

Indian arrivals to the USA from January through May 2023 were 643,270, placing India third overall after the UK and Germany. In comparison to the pre-Covid arrivals over the same time period in 2019, which was also a record-breaking year, this number shows a considerable 6% increase. By the end of this year, Indian arrivals are expected to surpass 2019 arrival numbers, according to the NTTO.
With 1.3 million visitors arriving in the USA in 2022, India came in sixth place. When it came to spending, however, India came in fourth place with US$ 13.3 billion.

India continues to increase airline capacity to the USA with its continuous growth as the third-largest civil aviation market in the world. Numerous Middle Eastern, European, and Asian airlines offer convenient one-stop services to the US in addition to direct flights to numerous US destinations.

For long-distance leisure travel, the United States remains to be an aspirational destination for Indian tourists.
