Vehicles registered before 2019 must have high-security number plates, according to the Karnataka Transport Department.

All vehicles registered before April 1, 2019, must have high-security registration plates (HSRP) installed, according to the transportation department.
Bengaluru: The installation of high-security registration plates (HSRP) is required in all vehicles registered before April 1, 2019, according to the Karnataka transport department.

The agency warned the owners of the vehicles to adhere to the required high-security registration plates in an order that was issued on August 17 or risk paying a fine between 500 and 1000.

The purpose of this, according to the government, is to bring license compliance to vehicles throughout the state. High security number plates come standard on all new automobiles.

The high security license plates incorporate chromium-based holograms and permanent identification numbers, among other features. According to the transport department, high security number plates’ distinctive characteristics cannot be altered.

Before 2019, Karnataka registered almost 20 million automobiles. According to the officials, separate camps are being set up at regional transport offices to provide car owners the high security number plates. There is also an online registration option for getting license plates.
