Uber becomes environmentally friendly at Mumbai International Airport.

Uber has announced the launch of its premier electric vehicle (EV) product, Uber Green, with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai being the first location to offer the service. Uber Green now provides on-demand electric vehicle (EV) rides in India, allowing riders to access eco-friendly transportation options with a single touch on the app.

Uber Green will be immediately accessible to passengers desiring a green transport to or from the Mumbai Airport. The new service will be available at a designated pick-up zone at Terminal 2 of Mumbai International Airport and throughout the city, allowing a greater number of commuters to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable mobility throughout the city.

Uber India and South Asia’s spokesperson on the launch stated, “Based on our strong relationship with Adani Airports and our shared commitment to sustainability, we are delighted to introduce Uber Green in Mumbai, beginning at The Mumbai International Airport. Sustainability should not be difficult; it should be straightforward. With Uber Green, each rider can make a modest change that has a collectively significant impact on the environment. By providing on-demand electric rides, we hope to provide a convenient and emission-free mode of transportation for our riders in Mumbai, thereby taking a significant step forward in our electrification voyage.”

“We are excited to partner with Uber to launch ‘Uber Green’ at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA),” said a spokesperson for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. Over the years, Mumbai Airport has contributed resolutely to the realisation of aviation sustainability and is committed to achieving Net Zero Carbon Emission. The airport recently attained the Highest-Level 4+ “Transition” of Airport Council International’s (ACI) Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) programme, becoming only the third airport in the Asia-Pacific region to achieve this prestigious certification. By offering EV rides on demand, we are collectively making significant advances towards sustainable transportation and carbon emission reduction in the city. This launch is consistent with our vision of fostering eco-friendly mobility and reinforces our dedication to making Mumbai more sustainable and environmentally conscious.”
