As it broadens its worldwide route network, Air India will begin offering nonstop flights from Mumbai to Melbourne, Australia, for the first time ever.

Beginning on December 15, 2023, Air India will operate three times a week between Mumbai and Melbourne, making it the sole non-stop carrier between Mumbai and Australia at the moment.

With over 200,000 Indian residents in the Australian state of Victoria—roughly 40% of the country’s overall Indian diaspora—the new Mumbai-Melbourne flights will add about 40,000 seats annually. The expanded services are intended to meet the increasing demand for both business and leisure travel to the area, as well as the desire to see friends and family.

Chief Commercial & Transformation Officer of Air India Nipun Aggarwal stated, “We are excited to introduce the only non-stop service between Mumbai and Melbourne.” This is a significant advancement in our continuing transformation effort, which among other things seeks to increase the number of non-stop flights connecting India with the rest of the globe. We are thrilled to present to passengers on this route the increasingly pleasant Air India flying experience, of which legendary Indian hospitality will always be a pillar.

The Victoria State Government of Australia’s Natalie Hutchins, Minister for Jobs and Industry, expressed her excitement at the first direct flight from Mumbai to Melbourne. In addition to increasing tourism and generating jobs locally, this new route will give Victorian firms better access to one of the fastest-growing economies in the world.

Passengers can make easy, one-stop connections to and from Melbourne via Delhi or Mumbai from 17 Indian cities. Via Delhi and Mumbai, the new Mumbai-Melbourne route additionally provides smooth two-way connectivity between London Heathrow and Melbourne.

The times of departure and arrival are shown in local time. Next day arrival is indicated by +1.

Tickets can be purchased using the Air India mobile app, www.airindia.com, and travel agencies all around the world. Special round-trip, all-inclusive tickets in Economy start at INR 48,999.
