Launch of India’s First Co-Brand Hotel Credit Card by HDFC Bank and Marriott Bonvoy

To capitalize on the rise in travel and increased expenditure on high-quality experiences by Indian travelers, HDFC Bank teamed up with Marriott Bonvoy to introduce the country’s first-ever co-branded hotel credit card.

At a time when Marriott is one of the leading hotel chains in India with 145 properties spread across 41 cities offering 16 brands, and on the verge of launching its 17th brand in India, this is also the first such offering for the Indian market. Diner’s Club, a leading provider of global payment solutions, has collaborated with this product’s introduction.

According to Parag Rao, Country Head – Payments Business, Consumer Finance, Technology and Digital Banking, HDFC Bank, this credit card is primarily targeted at leisure travelers in India looking for exceptional luxury experiences. A significant portion of this is for personal stay and spend. He stated, “With only 18 million credit card users in India, the recent merger of HDFC with HDFC Bank has combined more than 100 million clients under our belt. This demonstrates our shared potential for advancement, and these are exciting times. He continued by saying that all current Bonvoy members are eligible for this card’s offer.

Marriott International’s Area Vice President for South Asia, Ranju Alex, stated that they are staking their enormous portfolio of properties in India, which span numerous brand categories and pricing points, on this claim. Since Marriott has 186 million members worldwide, the debut of this hospitality co-brand credit card is significant. This illustrates the strength of our collaboration. This is the ideal time to launch this card, which combines innovation and customer-centricity with excellent service.
