IndiGo launches service between Delhi and Itanagar

Beginning on October 2, 2023, IndiGo, India’s top airline, will operate the only nonstop flights between Delhi and Itanagar. With the addition of Delhi, IndiGo now links Itanagar to three major cities: Mumbai, Kolkata, and now Delhi. In IndiGo’s efforts to spur major growth in the area, this new direct connection represents a crucial turning point. It promotes trade as well as travel and tourism, which results in general economic growth. The large choice of flight options offered by IndiGo’s extensive network, which has the most domestic and international connections from Delhi, promises that this direct link will open up new opportunities for travelers and increase convenience.

“We are happy to begin direct flights between Delhi and Itanagar,” said Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, “building on our commitment to strategically increase connectivity to the Northeast. This clever innovation not only gives travelers more options for getting around, but it also creates exciting new possibilities for those who want to explore the captivating landscapes of Arunachal Pradesh. Direct flights from the area to Delhi, which acts as the entry point to our wide domestic and international network, now offer passengers from the area extra convenience and time savings. IndiGo is steadfast in its commitment to providing the 6E network with reasonably priced, punctual, and hassle-free travel experiences, thus solidifying our commitment to boosting connectivity throughout India.

IndiGo has worked diligently in recent years to improve accessibility in the Northeast India region, connecting with seven of the eight states in this diverse region. By beginning operations at Donyi Polo Airport in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, on November 28, 2022, IndiGo celebrated an important milestone. This tactical initiative resulted in the introduction of first flights connecting Itanagar with renowned cities like Mumbai and Kolkata. With the launch of this new flight between Delhi and Itanagar, hitherto inaccessible locations like Tawang are poised to see a spike in visitor arrivals on regularly scheduled commercial aircraft, boosting the economy of the city and the state.

Itanagar’s Donyi Polo Airport, opened over a year ago, is only 15 kilometers from the state capital. This improved access to Itanagar, often known as the “land of dawn-lit mountains,” is expected to boost tourism and draw travelers to the area’s top sights. Ita Fort, the Jawaharlal Nehru Museum, Namdapha National Park, and the lovely town of Tawang, which is tucked away in the picturesque Gudpi and Chong-Chung Mi ranges, are just a few of the famous destinations that tourists can visit. Adventurers can visit quiet glacier lakes like Sangetser and Sela, find peace at Taktsang Gompa, or climb Gorichen Peak to view the town below in spectacular detail. Other well-known tourist attractions in Itanagar include the lovely Gekar Sinyi (Ganga Lake), an energetic craft center and emporium, an enthralling zoological park, the picturesque Indira Gandhi Park, the peaceful Polo Park, and a number of famous Buddhist monasteries.

Customers can purchase tickets on our official website, www.goIndiGo.in, to help them organize their trip. These new flights will improve the airline’s domestic connection even more.
