Indian Railways cancels Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat on its third day — Here’s why.

Today, May 22, 2023, Indian Railways discontinued the Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express. 17th Vande Bharat Express. The move follows Sunday’s thunderstorm damage.

“The train will remain cancelled due to repairs of damages caused by a thunderstorm on May 21, 2023 in Cuttack-Bhadrak section of East Coast Railway (ECoR),” SER officials said. Train delays exceeded five hours.

The blue and white train in Jajpur, Odisha, was heavily damaged by a cyclone on Sunday. The train stopped because tree branches caught its pantograph. The windscreen also cracked.

The incident occurred around 16:45 hours between Baitarani Road and Manjuri Road stations near Jajpur Keonjhar Road station. Over three hours, the train was stalled. Later, trains used diesel engines. Semi-high-speed train reached Manjuri road with diesel engine. Trains ran normally from Manjuri Rd.

On May 18, 2023, Narendra Modi inaugurated this futuristic train. Saturday marked its commercial launch.

SER has also rescheduled some trains. The connection train runs late.

Rescheduled:

22863 Howrah-Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal (Bengaluru) Express will leave HWH at 13:00 instead of 10:50.

22857 Santragachi-Anand Vihar Express will depart at 15:00 instead of 10:00.

20815 Tatanagar – Visakhapatnam Express will depart at 09:50 instead of 07:20.
