AirAsia X expands India network with four weekly flights to Amritsar.

AirAsia X continues to expand its medium-haul network with the reinstatement of direct service between Kuala Lumpur and Amritsar, India. From September 3, 2023, four weekly services will provide access to Amritsar, a destination with enormous religious significance, tourism attractions, commercial opportunities, and trade potential.

As the second Indian destination after New Delhi, this route will provide AAX with an additional 157,263 seats annually between Kuala Lumpur and Amritsar.

Benyamin Ismail, chief executive officer of AirAsia X, stated, “We are delighted to resume direct flights to Amritsar, home of the world-famous Golden Temple. This route not only enables our guests in the region to visit the holy city affordably, but also enables the residents of Amritsar to visit amazing holiday destinations with the best value fares, such as Perth, Melbourne, Bali, Bangkok, and more with our Fly-Thru service.

“The reinstatement of this route is also part of our efforts to strengthen AAX’s position in South Asia, which will complement our formidable network in North Asia. We are optimistic that the relaunch of this route will not only expand our selection of affordable medium-haul destinations, but also contribute to the overall expansion of our business.”

To commemorate the reinstatement of the route, AAX is offering promotional all-in*fares starting at RM299* one-way for economy seats and RM999* for Premium Flatbed. In addition, visitors travelling to/from Amritsar will receive a 50% discount on checked baggage when they book travel between 3 September 2023 and 30 March 2024 between now and 2 July 2023.

Amritsar is one of the most popular destinations in Punjab, which is located in the northwestern region of India and is underserved by Asia-Pacific travellers. The city is also home to the Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), one of the holiest sanctuaries of the Sikhs, as well as numerous historical monuments, such as Jallianwala Bagh, Wagah Border, and Gobindgarh Fort.
