AbhiBus Notices a considerable Increase in Bus Booking.

Requests for the Monsoon Compared to Last Year Online bus ticket booking platform AbhiBus has noticed a considerable increase in bus booking requests for the monsoon travel. Due to different problems affecting plane and train travel, travellers are looking towards alternate modes of transportation as their desire to travel grows.

According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), as of May ’23, the aviation sector was operating at almost 90% capacity. However, the cost of travel has increased dramatically, making it less affordable for many tourists. Similar queue concerns have also plagued train travel, with a staggering 2.7 crore customers being denied train travel in FY2023.

In response to these difficulties, the bus travel industry is expanding at a never-before-seen rate and becoming a popular option for tourists. In comparing this monsoon’s travel patterns to those from the previous year, AbhiBus found numerous interesting trends. Significant surge in bookings has been observed at popular destinations including Udaipur (up 2x), Jaisalmer (up 2.5x), Lonavala (up 1.8x), Wayanad (up 3x), Shillong (up 2x), Kodaikanal (up 3.5x), and Pondicherry (up 1.3x).

“The surge in air travel costs this year and the limited availability of trains have led to a noticeable increase in bus booking inquiries for monsoon travel on AbhiBus,” said Rohit Sharma, COO of AbhiBus. Buses are currently being embraced by more and more travellers as an accessible and convenient means of transportation. Although monsoon is often a slow travel season, this year’s travellers are taking advantage of it thanks to the appealing off-season rates that are available at this time.

AbhiBus has also noticed an intriguing increase in the number of solitary passengers planning to visit other locations. Solo travel has grown in popularity among people looking for singular experiences in well-known and out-of-the-way tourist locations.

When comparing the data from the previous month, AbhiBus has seen a rise in the number of people planning to go on picturesque routes. For instance, over the last 15 days, there has been a notable 2.5-fold increase in the desire to travel from Salem to Kanyakumari. Similar to how travel intents from Bangalore to Munnar have climbed by 1.2 times, bus ticket inquiries from Bangalore to Gokarna have increased by 1.3 times. A few more notable increases include from Hyderabad to Araku (1.2x), Bangalore to Goa (3.5x), and Mumbai to Lonavala (3x).
