Kerala Tourism Minister P A Mohamed Riyas reported that 18 Muziris Heritage Projects spanning the districts of Thrissur, Ernakulam, and Alappuzha have been completed and will be inaugurated in July and August.

Riyas stated that the completion of the Muziris Heritage Projects was due to the government’s consistent intervention and the support of the respective district’s people’s representatives.

“Despite the obstacles caused by the pandemic, Kerala Tourism has accomplished 18 Muziris Heritage Projects by the deadline… These projects, which span the districts of Thrissur, Ernakulam, and Alappuzha, will be inaugurated in July and August, the Minister announced following the meeting.

Using funds from the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB), he stated that additional infrastructure projects will be undertaken in Kovalam, and measures will be taken to ensure the safety of lifeguards.

According to the Tourism Department, the Muziris Heritage Project is one of the largest conservation initiatives in India, with the goal of preserving over 3,000 years of culture and heritage.

In the 1st century BC, Muziris was an active port on the west coast of southern India. The initiative includes museums, religious sites, beaches, and historical sites, according to a release from the department.

According to the document, the region comprising the heritage initiative is located between North Paravur in Ernakulam district and Kodungallur in Thrissur district.
