  • The modern Venkateswara temple in Jammu welcomes visitors. - Starfish Travel Corporation

Lieutenant-Governor Manoj Sinha, together with Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Dr. Jitendra Singh, dedicated the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple to the devotees on Thursday in an effort to increase the number of pilgrims visiting Jammu. The temple is stretched out over more than 62 acres of land.

To pay respects to Lord Venkateswara, a manifestation of Vishnu, many devotees flocked to the recently constructed temple complex.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) had already created temples in Hyderabad, Chennai, Kanyakumari, Delhi, and Bhubaneswar, making the Jammu temple the sixth Balaji Temple to be built outside of Andhra Pradesh.

The UT administration wants to draw more Mata Vaishnoi Devi and Amarnath-bound pilgrims to Jammu in order to support the growth of the tourism industry and create more job possibilities for young people.

In addition to boosting tourism, the holy shrines of Sri Venkateswara, Baba Amarnath, Mata Vaishno Devi, Mata Sharda, Shiv Khori, Adi Shankaracharya Temple, Hazratbal, and other notable religious sites and Sufi shrines in the UT will also help to establish Jammu & Kashmir as the nation’s cultural and spiritual centre. Jambu Zoo was opened by LG Manoj Sinha last month to accommodate the influx of pilgrims using the Jammu Srinagar National Highway close to Nagrota.

Currently, phase 1 of the Tawi river front is being built in full swing with phase 2 of the artificial Tawi lake project picking up pace to provide improved infrastructure for tourists visiting Jammu by the end of June.

The dignitaries took part in the Maha Samprokshanam of Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams at Majeen village near Sidhra district of Jammu before the traditional event.

G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, expressed his congratulations to the populace, the J&K Government, and all Sri Venkateswara worshippers. The message that Kashmir and Kanyakumari, India, are one will travel around the world thanks to the temple in Jammu. According to him, this will be a hub for spirituality and Sanatan traditions.

The quick completion of Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple is a direct outcome of the devotion and commitment of the Lt Governor of J&K and the Chairman and Board members of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. According to the Union Minister, followers of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi and other well-known religious sites can now travel to Jammu to seek Sri Venkateswara Swamy’s blessings.

The opening of the temple, according to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, is a significant turning point in the history of J&K and the nation as a whole.

“The opening of the Lord Venkateswara temple would improve J&K’s religious tourism industry. According to the Lt Governor, it will significantly stimulate economic growth, increase job possibilities, and promote spiritual tourism in the Union Territory.
