  • Gen. VK Singh has a plan to connect RRTS to Jewar airport. - Starfish Travel Corporation

The entire RRTS project is anticipated to cost $30,274 crore, and the 82km section is anticipated to be finished by March 2025. According to General VK Singh (retired), the minister of state for road transport & roads and civil aviation, the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) is planned to connect with the forthcoming Jewar airport as officials work on a detailed project report (DPR) for this development.

The 17 kilometer priority segment in Ghaziabad, which runs from Sahibabad to Duhai, would be the first passenger service to open in the nation. It is an essential component of the 82 km long RRTS project that seeks to connect Meerut, Ghaziabad, and Delhi.

It is anticipated that the entire 82km stretch of the RRTS project, which is slated to cost $30,274 crore, will be finished by March 2025.

“The RRTS link under the current project is between Delhi and Meerut. In order to connect Duhai to Jewar Airport with Delhi, we also intend to take on the project. Western Uttar Pradesh will be the main focus of the airport in Jewar, and many residents of this area are likely to fly out of Jewar. So they may simply travel from Jewar to Meerut and then to Delhi. Gen. Singh told the journalists on Tuesday at the Sahibabad RRTS station, “The DPR is being prepared.

the corridors Delhi-Meerut, Delhi-Alwar, Delhi-Panipat, Delhi-Palwal, Delhi-Khurja, Delhi-Rohtak, Delhi-Hapur, and Delhi-Baraut were initially included in the RRTS project. The three corridors that were given priority are included in RRTS Phase 1; the remaining five routes were chosen as part of the Functional Plan on Transport for National Capital Region-2032.

This RRTS development is essential for boosting accessibility to the planned Jewar airport due to the close proximity of Khurja City to Jewar.

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi lay the project’s foundation stone on November 25, 2021, the development of the Jewar airport moved along quickly. By the end of 2023, the airport hopes to open with just two runways, with future expansions including up to six.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, is anticipated to visit the site to check out the arrangements and preparations as work on the 17km priority phase of the RRTS project is scheduled to advance.

On October 17, the CM will travel to Hapur and may stop by here. The ‘Navratris’ is when the auspicious works are completed, so we should hold off till festival time, said Gen. Singh.

Twenty-five stations make up the 82 kilometer RRTS project, with 22 of them falling under the purview of Uttar Pradesh. Eight stations, including five on the 17 kilometer priority stretch, are located in the Ghaziabad district alone.

The 82km RRTS route is expected to carry almost 8 lakh passengers daily once it is fully operational. “The RRTS trains are operating in full operational state, although without passengers, and the infrastructure for the 17 kilometre priority stretch is already finished. Passenger operations can begin right away after the inauguration, according to a representative for NCR Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the organization in charge of carrying out the RRTS project.
