On September 25, a roadshow (symbolic) will be held in Varanasi by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways (MoPSW), laying the groundwork for the eagerly awaited Third Global Maritime India Summit 2023 (GMIS). The Trade Facilitation Center in Varanasi is where the event will take place.
According to a press release, delegates from the governments of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal will attend the conference, which will be presided over by Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways and Ministry of Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal.
Daya Shankar Singh, the transport minister for the state of Uttar Pradesh, Lakko Venkateshwarlu, the transport secretary for the state of Jharkhand, Kripa Nand Jha, the transport secretary for the state of West Bengal, Dr. Saumitra Mohan, and the transport secretary for the state of Bihar, Sanjay Kumar Agarwal will all be present at the meeting.
The Varanasi summit, which is being hosted by the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), will serve as a forum to examine the expansion of the marine industry, promote teamwork, and open doors for stakeholders in this crucial sector. Prakash Jwala, Nepal’s minister of transportation and physical infrastructure, is also anticipated at the event.
“Our focus on waterways, from the grandiose Jal Marg Vikas Project to the ambitious Gati Shakti Initiative, reflects a steadfast commitment to releasing the enormous potential of our maritime industry. In addition to supporting our business, this transitional period emphasizes embracing sustainability and environmental stewardship. These goals will come together, relationships will blossom, and our common vision will materialize at the Global Maritime India Summit in 2023, said Sonowal in a news release.

The union Ayush minister Sarbananda Sonowal will be welcomed at the event, according to the public relations officer for the UP Ayush minister, Dayashankar Mishra Dayalu.
