  • Chandigarh is anticipating Haryana's contribution for the DPR

Punjab has already contributed its $1.37 crore portion of the Tricity Metro project, but Haryana has not yet done so. The project will cost a total of 10,570 crore, which will be split between the states, the federal government, and a financing organization. The UT administration has not yet given its approval, according to RITES, the organization writing the formal project report. The project’s first phase, which was previously scheduled to begin in 2027, has been increased from 66 km to 77 km. After 2037, the second phase will be created.
The UT administration is still expecting Haryana’s contribution, even though Punjab has already paid its portion toward the creation of an alternative analysis report (AAR) and a detailed project report (DPR) for the Tricity Metro project.

On August 25, Punjab made a payment of 1.37 crore toward its portion. Haryana has not yet provided the required amount.

On the other hand, before beginning work, Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES), which will create the DPR, requested written approval from the UT administration.

The projected total cost of the Metro project is roughly 10,570 crore, of which the states will pay 20%, the center 20%, and the credit agency the rest 60%.

They were still debating whether to disburse the funding through the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) or create a new head, according to a top Haryanan officer in charge of the project.

Punjab contributed its fair contribution through the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA), according to a senior member of the UT administration. We will offer RITES our approval to prepare the DPR once we receive the necessary funding from Haryana.

The Chandigarh administration had determined in July that, in accordance with the requirements of the central government, it would include all stakeholders, including Haryana and Punjab, in the production of the AAR and DPR for Metro Rail.

The 66 km initial phase of the Tricity Metro Project was expanded from 66 km to 77 km by the 23-member Unified Metro Transportation Authority (UMTA), which convened on July 18. The first phase will now begin in Parol in New Chandigarh (Mohali) and conclude in Sector 20 at Panchkula Extension.

Parol, Sarangpur, ISBT Panchkula to Panchkula Extension (29 km), Rock Garden to ISBT Zirakpur via Industrial Area and Chandigarh Airport (35 km), and from Grain Market Chowk, Sector 39, to Transport Chowk, Sector 26 (13 km) are the three routes that the Metro has been proposed for in the first phase, which will be built between 2027 and 2037.
