  • From next month, AC double-decker e-buses will run on the BKC route.

The project will distribute 10 of these buses, which will provide relief to BKC’s business district, which receives between two and two and a half lakh visitors everyday. These buses, according to BEST authorities, will be stationed in the Kurla depot from whence they will operate on the BKC route.
According to the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) initiative, air-conditioned electric double-decker buses will begin operating on the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) route beginning next month.

BEST had been unable to obtain these e-buses for the past five months due to the manufacturers’ hold-up in shipping them.

The project will distribute 10 of these buses, which will provide relief to BKC’s business district, which receives between two and two and a half lakh visitors everyday. These buses, according to BEST authorities, will be stationed in the Kurla depot from whence they will operate on the BKC route.

Eight of the 18 AC double-decker e-buses that will be delivered next month are scheduled to enter service in the first week of September. By the end of September, the final 10 e-buses will be introduced. The BKC route will be served by these e-buses, according to a BEST official.

BEST undertaking has recently been under fire for registering these new AC double-decker e-buses as “red-color” even though they are actually a blend of the colors red and black.

Numerous issues that hundreds of individuals encounter when trying to make their daily commute to and from BKC have been thoroughly covered by Hindustan Times. The disruptive autorickshaw drivers caused so much trouble that BEST was forced to reduce the number of bus routes that went through Bandra Railway Station.

The introduction of AC double-decker buses on this route now provides BEST a fighting chance to maintain their presence on the road and fend off the autorickshaw drivers who engage in unsafe driving and park carelessly on the roads.

A public transportation upgrade is required since the commercial district has moved to BKC and more and more corporate headquarters are relocating there.

The bus route number 310 now travels via BKC from Bandra rail terminus to Kurla station. In this business center, there are also single-decker AC buses and grey-and-yellow hybrid single-decker buses that transport people.

The present fleet of 12 AC double-decker e-buses connects the neighborhoods of CSMT, Churchgate, Nariman Point, and Gateway of India on the bus routes 115 and 138 in south Mumbai.

According to sources, they would operate these AC double-decker buses on the current south Mumbai route every 30 minutes as more of them are added to their fleet.

According to sources, the fleet now has 12 AC double-decker e-buses; four more will be added shortly; and starting next month, 18 more will be added.
