For an extra 205 crore, Mumbai Metro 2B will be extended from Mandale to Cheetah Camp in Chembur, adding 1.02 kilometers. The extension intends to speed up travel by establishing connectivity amongst the city’s numerous transportation lines.
Mumbai: According to a Wednesday directive from the urban development department, the Metro 2B will be extended from Mandale to Cheetah Camp near Chembur.
“The 10,896 crore project to connect DN Nagar to Mandale was approved on October 25, 2016. SV Road, Bandra, Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Kurla, Chembur, Mankhurd, and Mandale will all be traversed. The decree notes that the depot’s operations are now underway in Mandale.
The expansion of the line to Cheetah Camp and the authorization of the construction of a station in that same area were both approved by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) on February 23, 2021, during a meeting of its executive committee. For an additional 205 crore, the 22.64 kilometer long line will be extended by 1.02 kilometers.
The order states that the project will “provide interconnectivity” between the Western Express Highway, Eastern Express Highway, Western Railway, Central Railway, Mono Rail, Metro Lines 1 (Ghatkopar to Versova) and 2A (Dahisar to DN Nagar), Metro Lines 4 (Wadala to Kasarvadavali), and Metro Line 3 (Colaba to SEEPZ) currently being built.
In addition to providing rail-based access to the city’s commercial, governmental, and geographic features, the Metro 2B will significantly shorten travel times.
