  • During this year’s Diwali holidays, many people favor domestic travel over international travel.

This Diwali season, in a departure from tradition, Punekars are reportedly choosing more domestic than international tours. Additionally, the Northeast, Rajasthan, and Kerala are at the top of their list of preferred locations.

Thanks to its cutting-edge offers, such the “Champions Boat League,” a boat race modeled after the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kerala has experienced a rise in domestic tourism and established itself as a significant, year-round experiential destination. According to Kharadi resident Mandar Tayade, “I plan to visit Kerala after hearing about my friend’s CBL experience.”

The CBL is a visual treat with snake boats (Chundan Vallam in Malayali) racing across the backwaters of “God’s Own Country,” powered by dozens of rowers in each boat. According to Sajesh N, an assistant tourist information officer with the Government of Kerala’s Department of Tourism, “Kerala has launched quite a few attractive products, in addition to broadening the scope of existing ones and projecting the unique features of the state. This is in response to the demands and tastes of modern tourists. We want to give our innovative tourism offerings the next-level boost this year by luring more domestic travelers. Sajesh claims that due to its calm, palm-lined backwaters, immaculate beaches, and beautiful hill stations with expansive tea/coffee plantations, Kerala has somewhat evolved into a wedding destination. According to individual trip operators, they are receiving requests for locations that combine comfort and excitement.

Rajasthan and the Northeast are also luring large numbers of visitors in addition to Kerala. “I’ve received the most requests and reservations for Rajasthan vacations this year. When arranging their trip, travellers take into account factors like comfort and time availability, according to tour operator Snehal Angholkar.

According to Amit Deshpande of Balaji Tour Operators, “Many people this year chose to spend Diwali in the Northeast because the weather is pleasant at that time. The pattern indicates that travelers favor domestic over international trips. HTC
