With an AQI (Air Quality Index) of 413 at 7 am on Saturday, Delhi’s air quality remained in the severe category for the third day in a row. Gopal Rai, the environment minister for Delhi, noted during a late-night inspection at the Anand Vihar bus terminal on Friday that cars coming from Uttar Pradesh that use BS3 gasoline and BS4 diesel have been significantly contributing to the deterioration of the air quality. This was highlighted by the fact that Anand Vihar’s AQI, which measures dangerous conditions, alarmingly rose to 999 throughout the night. “The Delhi government has made every effort to reduce air pollution. The highest AQI is found at Anand Vihar. When I arrived, I discovered that all of the buses here were BS3 and BS4 vehicles from Uttar Pradesh. I beg Yogiji not to dispatch these cars to Delhi. In Delhi, there are CNG and electric bus services. The minister claimed that the manager of the bus depot and the traffic officials had been irresponsible in allowing these forbidden cars to enter Delhi.
