If all goes as planned, traffic on the Sion-Panvel highway in Navi Mumbai may drop in the upcoming years as CIDCO has requested bids for a Turbhe-Kharghar Tunnel Link Road Project that will reduce the travel time from Vashi toll naka to Kharghar by 30 minutes.
The International Corporate Park (ICP) at Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, will have direct connectivity thanks to the Turbhe-Kharghar Tunnel Link Road (TKLR), for which we have requested bids for the design, construction, and commissioning, according to a representative. The project is anticipated to be finished in five years from the time the bids are finalized.
The project’s operation and maintenance will be the responsibility of the construction company for a six-year term known as the defect liability period. The 5.45 kilometer long road will set you back more than Rs 2,000 to build. The Urban Development Department of Maharashtra received a proposal from CIDCO in the month of April of last year asking for their approval to carry out the project.
The design calls for the Sion-Panvel Highway, Thane-Belapur Road, and Palm Beach Road to be avoided as the TKLR alignment travels from Turbhe to Kharghar via Juinagar. The hill separating the two nodes will be tunneled through. Prior to the project’s launch, the CIDCO will purchase land, relocate, and rehabilitate individuals while also obtaining approval from the Forest Department to do so.
