North Sikkim has had serious difficulties following the monsoon season’s flash floods and landslides, which has resulted in the temporary suspension of new visitor licences. A significant amount of road damage has been seen in the worst-affected location, Chungthang in the Mangan district, making it dangerous for tourists to visit. Therefore, until further notice, district authorities have stopped issuing tourist permits as a precaution.
A quick rescue and evacuation effort was required after the recent landslip, which left about 2,464 tourists trapped and caused significant damage. The decision has an influence on tourists seeking out adventure activities, spiritual trips, and picturesque landscapes in the area, as well as on well-known tourist spots including Lachen, Lachung, and Yumthang Valley.
