The Kerala administration has extended by three months the deadline for installing cameras in buses.
The Transport Department had requested that bus proprietors install cameras in their vehicles by June 30. The new proposal calls for the devices to be installed by September 30.
The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and private bus operators requested a deadline extension.
In a meeting convened by Transport Minister Antony Raju to discuss the perils of excessive competition among private buses, it was decided that all buses, including state-owned KSRTC buses, would be equipped with cameras by February 28. After this, the date was postponed multiple times.
