According to Minister for Transport Ramalinga Reddy, the long-awaited free travel for women in regular buses, one of the pledges of the Congress, will be implemented following the cabinet meeting on June 1.

He met with representatives from the four state-run road transport Sircorporations (RTCs) in Bengaluru on May 30: BMTC, KSRTC, NWKRTC, and KKRTC.

Later, Mr. Reddy told reporters that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would receive a report from the officials regarding the scheme on May 31. A choice will be made during the Cabinet meeting on June 1. A report has been requested from the transport department’s principal secretary. ”

It was decided to put into effect the five pledges made to voters in the Congress party’s election programme at the first Cabinet meeting of the newly elected administration in Karnataka on May 20.

Mr. Siddaramaiah has previously stated that the next Cabinet meeting will be used to iron out the specifics of these plans’ implementation. The concerned departments have been instructed to issue orders for the implementation of these plans.

An employee of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), who was present at the meeting, told The Hindu that the Minister had recorded all pertinent information, including revenue and fleet condition. They also talked about how businesses in Karnataka may provide free bus service to female customers.

The Congress party promised five programmes, including Shakti provides free bus rides for women in regular public transportation throughout Karnataka. Every home receives 200 free electricity units under Gruha Jyothi each month. Gruha Lakshmi provides 2,000 per month to each woman who is the family’s head, Anna Bhagya provides 10 kg of rice per month to each BPL family member, Yuva Nidhi offers unemployed graduates and diploma holders (in the 18 to 25 age range) grants of $3,000 and 1,500 a month, respectively, for two years.
