Note:- There are currently three Vande Bharat Express trains departing from Mumbai: the Mumbai Central to Ahmedabad and the Gandhinagar Capital, as well as the Mumbai to Sainagar Shirdi and the Mumbai to Solapur routes.
The trial run of Vande Bharat in Mumbai and Goa begins today (May 16), setting the stage for its formal debut in the near future. Today marks the beginning of the trial run of the fourth Vande Bharat semi-high-speed train.
Last month, work was finished on electrifying the Mumbai-Goa railway route, and after an inspection, the new train service will begin.
The top speed of a Vande Bharat train is 180 kilometres per hour. These high-tech trains are equipped with GPS-based passenger information systems, bio-vacuum restrooms, automatic doors, wireless Internet access, and regenerative braking.
These trains are the first of their kind to traverse the mountainous terrain between Mumbai and Pune or Mumbai and Nashik without a supplementary rear engine.
An RTI revealed that despite being permitted to travel at 130 kmph for commercial services, the Vande Bharat Express has been travelling at an average speed of around 83 kmph for the past two years due to poor track conditions.
In an RTI request made last month, Chandra Shekhar Gaur of Madhya Pradesh noted that Vande Bharat’s median speed falls short of the maximum allowed for commercial services of 130 km per hour.
The semi-high-speed rail averaged 84.48 kilometres per hour in 2021–2022, and 81.38 kilometres per hour in 2022–2023.
New Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat Express, the country’s first Vande Bharat Express train, launched in 2019 and runs at an average speed of 95 kmph, while the Mumbai CSMT-Sainagar Shirdi Vande Bharat Express has the slowest average speed at around 64 kmph.
With an average speed of 94 kph, the Rani Kamalapati (Habibganj)-Hazrat Nizamuddin Vande Bharat Express is a close second.
Because of their quicker acceleration and deceleration, officials claim that Vande Bharat trains go faster on average than Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express trains.
The Vande Bharat Express is an EMU train on the Indian Railways network. They were built in Chennai, India, by the Integral Coach Factory after being designed by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation.
