The next popular tourist destination in Uttarakhand has been named as Jadung by the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB). It is the first village from the Tibet Border and an ancient border settlement in Uttarkashi.
Jadung is now the first of the five settlements to undergo rehabilitation. It will also be developed into a sustainable tourism destination for hiking, trekking, astrotourism, and other activities. According to sources, the majority of Jadung’s residents were relocated as a result of the Indo-China War.
According to Shri Satpal Maharaj, Minister of Tourism, Irrigation, Culture, and PWD for the Government of Uttarakhand, who was speaking about the new initiative, they are happy to announce Jadung as the state’s newest tourist destination because it will give travellers a fantastic opportunity to experience the distinctive culture and natural beauty of Uttarakhand.
Jadung, a charming village that has been frozen in time at a height of about 3,800 metres, will probably come to life with the new project.
In addition to its natural beauty, Jadung is a popular destination for special interest tourism, including astrotourism, where the clear, starry skies at night provide an excellent setting for astronomy.
Additionally, this programme aims to promote sustainable tourism throughout Uttarakhand while showcasing the state’s natural splendour and rich cultural legacy. It will also increase tourism options in the state and maybe relieve strain on famous tourist locations.
For those who enjoy outdoor activities, Jadung will also provide a variety of them, including bird viewing, hiking, and nature camps.
