The intrastate Volvo services were initiated on Friday by the state-owned Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC). Previously dominated by private Volvo buses, the Chandigarh-Abohar route will now be served by Volvo buses for the first time.
The state-run Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) launched intrastate Volvo services on Friday, much to the relief of passengers. Previously dominated by private Volvo buses, the Chandigarh-Abohar route will now be served by Volvo buses for the first time.
Approximately ₹850 will be the passenger fare from Chandigarh to Abohar, which is less than the private ones. Previously, the PRTC solely operated Volvo buses on the routes between the airport and Delhi.
According to PRTC authorities, since this route covers a significant portion of the Malwa region, they would initially like to enhance the frequency of the Volvo buses on this route. After that, they would begin operating the state’s luxury bus service on several routes.
The Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, Chandigarh, Delhi, UP, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and Jammu & Kashmir regions are currently served by the PRTC. The PRTC currently operates 1,304 buses in a variety of classes, 19 of which are Volvo vehicles.
“The people of the state will now be able to enjoy cheap and easy travel within the state as well,” stated Ranjodh Singh Hadana, Chairman of the PRTC. We’re considering adding Volvo buses to additional routes.

He continued by saying that private bus owners were making large sums of money and causing the department trouble by operating unlawful vehicles late at night. Of them, about 21 private, illicit buses have already been seized and penalized, according to Hadana.
“People had continuously demanded Volvo buses on the Chandigarh- Bathinda route after private buses were impounded as per the state transport policy,” stated Amanvir Singh Tiwana, general manager. We have started operating Volvo buses on this route in response to this demand. We have also established a WhatsApp complaint number, 9592195923, to address problems that passengers may have when riding PRTC buses.
