As part of the Winter Schedule ’23, Air India declared its intention to expand its network of domestic and international routes in India by more than 400 flights per week until March 2024.
In order to bolster its domestic network in India, Air India plans to add more than 200 weekly flights on multiple routes that touch major Indian cities like Mumbai and Delhi. These plans are based on the anticipated delivery of more aircraft over the next six months. The airline would run more than 200 weekly flights on its network of overseas routes, of which more than 80 have already been added. Four new international destinations that Air India intends to add to its network will be revealed eventually.
The airline increased frequency by 25 times weekly flights (either way) on eight foreign routes that connect locations in Southeast Asia, the United States, and Europe at the start of the Winter Schedule ’23. This involves the weekly frequencies on the following routes: Delhi-Bangkok (from 7 to 14 times weekly), Delhi-Dhaka (from 7 to 12 times weekly), Delhi-Newark (New Jersey) from 3 to 4 times weekly, Delhi-San Francisco (10 to 11 times weekly), Delhi-Washington, D.C. from 3 to 4 times weekly, Delhi-Copenhagen from 3 to 4 times weekly, Delhi-Milan from 4 to 5 times weekly, and Mumbai-Doha from 7 to 9 times weekly.
Four additional routes have been added to Air India’s fleet: Bengaluru-Singapore, Kochi-Doha, Kolkata-Bangkok, and Mumbai-Melbourne.
According to Campbell Wilson, CEO and MD of Air India, “We are equally focused on densifying and expanding our route network to capture the rapidly growing market demand, while modernizing our fleet and introducing new products and services is a top priority in Air India’s ongoing transformation journey.” Both Air India and our passengers have exciting times ahead of them in the upcoming months.
Air India anticipates adding more than thirty widebody and narrowbody aircraft to its fleet between now and March 2024. These aircraft include six A350s, four B777s, and twenty A320neos.
