The fuel surcharge would be implemented on both local and international routes by IndiGo, the top airline in India, beginning at 00:01 on October 6, 2023.
The choice was made in response to the sharp rise in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices, which have risen month after month for the past three months. ATF makes up a sizable amount of an airline’s operational costs, hence a rate adjustment is required to account for such a cost increase.
According to this price structure, clients who book IndiGo flights would pay a fuel fee, each sector, based on the distance between sectors.
IndiGo is still dedicated to providing reasonable fares to its devoted clients. IndiGo will also release the tariff sheet with the sector-specific fees later.
