The GMR Goa International Airport Ltd (GGIAL), a division of the GMR Airports Infrastructure Ltd, is the company that created and runs the MIA, which is situated in North Goa. According to a spokesperson’s statement to the media, the MIA is now a recognized immigration check point (ICP) for people in possession of e-visas. The MIA has earned the prestigious title of an authorized ICP for the entry of people with e-visas in an endeavor to offer a streamlined and hassle-free experience for foreign travelers. Foreigners are given e-visas if they want to travel to India for vacation, business, medical treatment, or to visit friends and family, he said. According to the spokesman, only specified international airports and seaports are able to let people with e-visas into India. International visitors should anticipate a simple entry process now that the MIA’s e-visa system is open. The progressive addition of more international carriers to the airport’s lineup is something that it greatly welcomes, he added.

According to domestic traffic figures from March 2023, it started operating domestically on January 5, 2023, and in just three months, it has earned a spot among India’s top 20 airports. The MIA started its international operations journey seven months after its creation, he claimed.
