  • DGCA Approves Import of Aircraft by Air India and IndiGo. - Starfish Travel Corporation

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has given permission for Air India and Interglobe Aviation, the company that operates IndiGo, to import aircraft, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) announced in a statement on July 31.

According to the press release, in-principle approval for the import of 470 and 500 aircraft, respectively, has been given to Air India and Interglobe Aviation.

The statement added that it does not cover the cost of purchasing these aircraft, which is a business deal between the airline and the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).

According to the statement from the Ministry, the availability of parking spaces is guaranteed at the time the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the actual import of aircraft is granted. The airlines’ induction plan calls for the aircraft to be imported between 2023 and 2035.

A total of 210 A320 Neo aircraft, 140 B737 aircraft, 40 A350 aircraft, 10 B777-9 aircraft, 20 B787-9 aircraft, and 50 B737-8 aircraft are among the imports that Air India is aiming for.
500 A320 Neo planes are what Indigo plans to import.
