Aniyan Thalayattumpilli, an environmentalist and writer, is currently hard at work creating a unique garden with plants that correspond with each of the seven chakras of Kundalini Yoga. The ‘yoga chakra’ garden is being built close to Aniyan’s family house in Kurichithanam, a village in the Kottayam district, amid a biodiversity hotspot.
There will be a huge variety of healing plants on the plot of land.
The seven key points of the human body are represented by the yoga chakras, which are a component of kundalini yoga, and each one has a suitable medicinal plant associated with it. The goal of Aniyan’s search is to cultivate such medicinal plants in the forthcoming garden. The groundwork for constructing the one-of-a-kind garden has started in earnest.
Ashwagandha, ginger, and turmeric (Muladhara Chakra), shatavari, hibiscus, and pepper (Svadhisthana Chakra), rose and lavender (Anahata Chakra), fennel seeds (Vishuddha Chakra), tulsi and “shankupushpam,” and lotus and lavender (Sahasrara Chakra) are some of the plants grown in the garden.
According to Aniyan, the facility blends with nature and has a pond named “vanatheertham,” a Buddha statue beneath a Bodhi tree, a forest temple, a “rashi chakra” forest, and a “human garden” shaped like a human.
Use of the “yoga chakra” garden is free of charge. Plans are in the works to incorporate a swing, a forest path, and a “ezhuthu pura” (a literary area) without upsetting the delicate balance of nature. The establishment of a “aditya” mandap for performing “surya namaskaram” and a “parnasala” called “Atheedriyam” for meditation will take place, the sage continues.
